Weather Preparedness Kit

5/6/2020 (Permalink)

It is a good idea to maintain a preparedness kit and have it readily accessible.

Severe weather can happen at any time in Omaha and frequently causes storm damage to homes and businesses.  In many cases there is not a lot of time to prepare or grab multiple items you may need to shelter so it is best to keep an emergency bag readily accessible.

The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency recommends having enough water and nonperishable food for three days, a change of clothes for all family members, medicine, a first aid kit, and some form of entertainment such as cards or a coloring book, hygiene items such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush and toilet paper, any valuable paperwork including instructions on how to get somewhere safe and who to call, cash and an extra set of keys.  It is best to be prepared and have a kit at the ready in case you are unable to get back into your home and need to stay in a hotel.

If your home or business is affected by storm damage, call the trusted professionals at 402-291-3355.  The experienced crews of SERVPRO of Sarpy County are always here to help.
